Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Bytebye is a photo library cleaner for iPhone. This policy explains exactly what the app does with your data. It is short because the app collects very little.
Your photos never leave your device
Bytebye reads your photo library to find duplicates, similar shots, screenshots, blurry photos and large videos. All of this happens on your device. There is no Bytebye server, no account, and no upload. Your photos, their contents and their metadata are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
To avoid re-reading your whole library on every scan, Bytebye stores a small fingerprint of each photo in a local database on your device. A fingerprint is a short numeric summary used to compare images; the photo cannot be reconstructed from it. This database never leaves your device and is removed when you delete the app.
What is collected
Advertising (free version only). Bytebye shows ads through Google AdMob after a cleanup. To serve and measure ads, AdMob receives information about how you interact with them, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and basic diagnostic and performance data. Your device’s advertising identifier is shared only if you allow tracking when iOS asks; if you decline, ads are still shown but are not personalised. Bytebye Premium shows no ads, and the AdMob SDK is not started at all. Google’s handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy & Terms.
Purchases. If you buy Bytebye Premium, the purchase is handled by Apple and validated through RevenueCat, which records the purchase and an anonymous identifier so the app knows your purchase is active and can restore it on a new device. We never receive your name, email address or payment details — Apple does not share them with us.
Nothing else. Bytebye has no analytics of its own, no crash reporting, no advertising profile and no mailing list.
Deleted photos
When you delete photos with Bytebye, they go to your phone’s Recently Deleted album, where iOS keeps them for 30 days before removing them permanently. Bytebye does not keep copies.
Children
Bytebye is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Your choices
- You can withdraw or change tracking permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- You can revoke photo library access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos. Bytebye stops working, but nothing is lost.
- Removing the app deletes the local fingerprint database along with it.
This website
bytebye.app sets one cookie of its own, and only when you pick a language with the EN/TR switch: it is called lang, holds that choice and nothing else, and expires after a year. It uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read, and only if you allow it in the bar at the bottom of the page. If you decline, or never choose, not a single request goes to Google.
If you allow it, Google stores an identifier cookie (_ga) in your browser and processes your visit — the page, where you came from, device type and a city-level location derived from your IP address — on servers that may be outside your country. Google signals and ad personalisation are turned off, and the website has no link to the ads in the app. You can change your mind at any time: . Withdrawing deletes the cookie and stops the measurement.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
